Why do we need to raise awareness of MS?
One of the MS Trust's goals is to help everyone understand the impact of multiple sclerosis. You can help us achieve this by doing some awareness raising yourself in your local area or online.
How can I help raise awareness of MS?
-
Give a talk
Give a talk about your experience of MS at work, at a school, to local clubs and organisations such as the women's Institute, or even to friends and family to help them understand the condition better. We can provide you with a DVD to explain the work the MS Trust carries out to support people with MS. -
Put up posters in your local area
The MS Trust can provide you with posters for you to display in your local area, and this is a vital way that we can get our information to the people that need it. With permission, you could display these posters in your library, GP's surgery, local supermarket or newsagent, or anywhere that might get people's attention. Download MS Awareness Week posters -
Write a letter to your local newspaper
Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper. The local press are always looking for good letters to print, and the letters to the Editor section is a must-read section. You could share your MS story, let your community know how great your MS Nurse is, or just spread some facts about MS. -
Set up an information stand or hold an information event
You could set up an information stand at work, in your local library, your GP's surgery or anywhere that you think might get people's attention. Or you could organise an event with friends, colleagues or family to help give them a better understanding of MS and its effects. We can provide you with materials and information to display, whether you are doing this on a small or large scale. -
Raise awareness online
Why not use your online social networks such as Twitter and Facebook to help raise awareness of MS? You could tweet facts about MS, or turn your profile photo blue for the week to show your support. -
YouTube it
Why not create your own awareness raising film clip and upload it to YouTube? You could talk about what MS is to you or interview someone who has MS.
