Are you looking for something gentler in nature? Perhaps you are artistic, or want to find an activity that gets you outdoors but isn’t too energetic. There are lots of activities, enjoyed on your own or in a group, which can provide you with some gentle exercise and contribute to your well-being.

If you enjoy visiting historic houses and gardens, many properties cater well for people with disabilities. There are guides available from the National Trust and English Heritage, which could be of interest. The Historic Royal Palaces site gives details of the accessibility to attractions such as the Tower of London and Hampton Court Palace.

The Eden Project in Cornwall, the National Botanic Garden of Wales and the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, are spectacular attractions that are extremely accessible. They are dedicated to environmental education, conservation and sustainability, as well as being beautiful gardens.

There are lots of activities, enjoyed on your own or in a group, which can provide you with some gentle exercise and contribute to your well-being.

You may want to take up something more creative like painting or pottery. Arts and craft courses are usually advertised in local papers and adult education centres. Or maybe you have a favourite sport you’d like to go and watch.
