Triathlon triumph
The MS Trust would like to say a big thank you to Marco Franchi who raised a fantastic £5,025 for the MS Trust through a triathlon and golf event in 2008.
Marco presented a cheque to the MS Trust, and the same amount to the MS Resource Centre, at a charity ball on 15 November, organised by the Associazone Parmigiani Valceno. Marco was inspired to fundraise for MS after meeting Peter Caldwell OBE, who has the condition.
Peter explained how he met Marco, "Back in 2005 I met Marco Franchi on a flight to Nice. During that flight he asked why I used a walking stick, and I explained about my multiple sclerosis. I am not sure how we got on to the subject of raising money for charities, but at some point I must have talked about the difficulties in raising funds.
"Earlier this year I had a call saying that somebody, who I had met on a plane, had been trying to contact me! Clearly this was going to be Marco and I got in touch. He said that he had promised, in 2005, to raise funds for MS, and he was now in a position to help. It restores your faith in human nature when someone with whom you've spent so little time, made the effort to trace me, and then offered to keep his promise made over three years ago."
The MS Trust is extremely grateful to Peter and Marco for all their support.
