Kelly raises funds and awareness

The MS Trust has received an amazing donation of £2,020 following Kelly Blagden's activities during MS Awareness Week 2009. She tells us about why she wanted to help below...

"I have recently been diagnosed with relapsing and remitting MS at the age of 21, although I have had symptoms since I was 18. To mark MS Awareness Week, I arranged a number of events to take place to raise money and awareness.

"I arranged for a local shop to set up a jewellery stall to begin the week. All the commission made was donated directly towards our total.

"The Tuesday and Wednesday were 'buy one get one free' dress down days across the whole of our Skipton site, which comprises of approximately 600 employees. Also on these days a treasure hunt was made and teams of five entered to complete the trail around Skipton town centre in business hours.

"Towards the end of the week, to finish off on a high, we sold tickets for a raffle whereby local businesses made donations of around 30 prizes.

"The whole week was a huge success. I cannot thank enough Homeloan Management (my employers), the local businesses and all my colleagues that made the week memorable. I could not have done all this without each and everyone of them.

"People all over the world are affected by MS and I am keen to continue to raise as much money and awareness for our condition, i will not stop here so watch this space!!

"Together we will beat MS!" Kelly Blagden
