Dare-devil grandmother takes to the skies!
22 June 2007
Brave 79 year old Sylvia Shaw decided to Jump in June after receiving one of our parachuting Christmas cards inviting her to 'jump for MS'. Sylvia's daughter Alison, a lecturer at Bury College, was diagnosed with MS 28 years ago and so when she heard about our Jump in June event there was no stopping her, despite her family's insistence that she was mad!
Sylvia jumped from Old Buckenham airfield on June 2 surrounded by over 30 of her closest friends and family. Despite having never having done a parachute jump before, Sylvia didn't feel any pre-jump jitters and said beforehand that she was taking the whole experience in her stride. She said afterwards that she thoroughly enjoyed the day and that it was a wonderful opportunity to get all of her family and friends together.
