Katie's great achievement!
Katie Priest took part in Jump in June 2009 and has raised over £8,000 for the MS Trust! She describes her experience below...
Over the past three years I've become rather badly disabled due to my MS. A few months ago I wanted to prove that I'm not useless. I spotted the opportunity to do a parachute jump for the MS Trust. Everyone said 'no way, you're a nutter. You can't do that!' I decided 'sod them, I'll prove them wrong!'
On the 4th of July 2009 I did it, I really did it!
It was absolutely brilliant. The staff helped me into the jump suit, harnesses, helmet and goggles. I was lifted into the airplane from my wheelchair and then, at 13,000 feet, we jumped. It was so amazing and so exhilarating - everyone should try it. The parachute opened and we floated down; the views were fantastic. I don't remember the landing as Geoff, my hunky instructor, made it so easy
I would like to say thank you to my instructor, Geoff, and all the staff at the Hinton Skydiving Centre. They were brilliant. I never felt scared. I would also like to thank my family, my husband Mark, my lovely son Sam, and my friends who were there to support me. Finally I would like to say a particular thanks to all those lovely people who sponsored me and helped me to raise over £8,000 for the MS Trust!
Wow, I did it and I've got the certificate to prove it!
